Troubleshooting roaming

When traveling outside the U.S., your phone usually connects to a partner network — this is called “roaming”. Roaming lets you make calls, send texts, and use data while on a network that isn’t SmartLess Mobile. If your service isn’t working while traveling, follow these steps to get back online.

Step 1: Check your plan and travel add-ons

  • Make sure you have a Travel Pass for the country you’re visiting. Travel Passes are available in over 200 countries and give you full access to calls, texts, and data.

  • Forgot to add a pass before takeoff? No worries — you can add one as soon as you land. Even without a Travel Pass, you can still access the SmartLess Mobile app and website.

Step 2: Enable Automatic Network Selection

This ensures your phone connects to the correct roaming partner network automatically.

Using iPhone

  1. Open Settings

  1. Tap Cellular

  1. Tap your SmartLess Mobile number under SIMs

  1. Tap Network Selection

  1. Make sure Automatic is enabled

Using Android (steps may vary by device and Android version)

  1. Open Settings

  1. Tap Network & Internet (or Connections)

  1. Tap SIMs (or Mobile networks), then select your SmartLess Mobile number

  1. Ensure Automatically select network is enabled

Note: Steps may vary slightly depending on your Android device and software version. Use the Settings search bar if you don’t see these options.

Step 3: Enable Data Roaming

If calls and texts work but you can’t access the internet, you’ll need to enable Data Roaming

Using iPhone

  1. Open Settings

  1. Tap Cellular

  1. Tap Cellular Data Options

  1. Toggle Data Roaming ON

Using Android

  1. Open Settings

  1. Tap Network & Internet (or Connections)

  1. Tap SIMs (or Mobile networks), then select your SmartLess Mobile number

  1. Toggle Roaming or Data Roaming ON

Note: Steps may vary slightly depending on your Android device and software version. Use the Settings search bar if you don’t see these options.

 Step 4: Restart your device

Sometimes a quick restart can refresh your connection and resolve roaming issues. Power off your phone, wait a few seconds, and turn it back on.
