Setting up your Voicemail

The first time you access your Voicemail, you'll be prompted to create a 4 to 9-digit Voicemail PIN and record your name and greeting. 

On iPhones, you’re also able to set up your Voicemail PIN and greeting from the Voicemail tab in the Phone app. 

If you’ve changed your Call Forwarding settings— for example, to forward calls to another number like a friend or a second line—and now want missed calls to go back to your Voicemail, you’ll need to update your settings to forward calls to the Voicemail deposit number: 1-805-637-7243 (fun fact: that spells 1-805-MESSAGE). 

To quickly reset all your Call Forwarding settings back to the default (Voicemail), just dial ##004# on your phone. 

Accessing your Voicemail

From your SmartLess Mobile phone

To access your Voicemail options, press and hold the "1" key from your SmartLess Mobile phone. In your Voicemail management menu, you’ll be able to replay, save, and delete your messages. 

From another phone

You can also check your Voicemail from another phone. You'll need your Voicemail PIN (you created it during setup).

Here's how: 

1. Call your SmartLess Mobile number and let it go to Voicemail 

• Depending on your number, or where your SmartLess Mobile phone is when you’re calling from another number, the calling number may incur long-distance fees 

2. When your greeting starts playing, press the "*" (star) key to interrupt it 

3. When prompted, enter your Voicemail PIN 

4. Follow the menu options to check your messages 

When you’re traveling and roaming on another network, you’ll need to purchase a Travel Pass with calling minutes to check your Voicemail. Checking your Voicemail is a call, after all! For Visual Voicemail, you’ll need data, too. Frequent flyer? Check out our Travel Pass options.

Your Voicemail PIN

You’ll be asked to choose a 4 to 9-digit Voicemail PIN during first-time setup. When you’re checking your Voicemail messages from your own phone, you won’t be asked for it. But if you’re accessing your Voicemail from another number, we’ll ask you for it to make sure no one else can listen to your messages. 

Forgot your Voicemail PIN? No sweat, here are a few ways to change it. 

iPhone 

1. Navigate to Settings > Apps > Phone 

2. Tap Change Voicemail PIN 

3. Choose your new PIN and confirm it 

Android and alternate iPhone method 

1. Press and hold 1 to Voicemail  

2. Follow the menu options to choose a new Voicemail PIN 

OR 

1. Dial #793# from your SmartLess Mobile phone 

2. You’ll get an SMS with your new Voicemail PIN 

Voicemail when traveling 

When you’re traveling, checking your Voicemail by pressing and holding 1 is still counted as call, so you’ll need to purchase a Travel Pass if you need access to your Voicemail or Visual Voicemail. 

Heads up – when traveling, if your phone is on and an incoming call goes to Voicemail, it’ll be counted as a one-minute call. If your phone is off and the call goes to Voicemail, it won’t be counted right away, and instead will be counted if/when you turn your phone back on.
