What's an eSIM — and why use one? 

An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital SIM card already built into your phone. No plastic, no waiting for shipping — just scan a QR code and go.  

Why use an eSIM?

• Get started instantly — no need to wait for delivery  

• Keep multiple plans on one device (great for travel!) 

• Some phones nowadays only support eSIM and no longer have a physical SIM slot 

• One less thing to lose, snap, or misplace 

No physical SIM? No problem. eSIMs make getting started faster and easier. 

Activate your eSIM

If you’ve just purchased a SmartLess Mobile plan and chosen an eSIM, you’ll be prompted to activate your plan and download and install your eSIM. 

Didn’t activate right away? No problem. You can activate your plan anytime within 28 days of purchase. Just make sure you’re connected to WiFi, then follow the steps below based on your device type  

Download and install automatically (newer iPhone models) 

Download the SmartLess Mobile app  

1. Log into MyAccount  

2. In Dashboard, click on your name and phone number near the top of the screen  

3. Follow the prompts to choose a new number or transfer one over  

4. Complete activation  

5. Choose the Install automatically option   

6. Follow the iOS prompts to automatically download and install your eSIM 

Download and install via QR code (Android) 

Have an Android device? We recommend having your phone with you and following the steps below from another device – maybe a computer or a tablet. 

From a computer or tablet, log into your MyAccount

1.  Activate your SmartLess Mobile plan  

2. Follow the prompts to choose a new number or transfer one over 

3. Complete activation 

4. Choose the option to download and install with a QR code 

5. Head to your phone’s Settings > SIM Manager > Add eSIM  

6. Scan your SmartLess Mobile QR code and follow the prompts to finish setup 

Transferring to eSIM

If you have a physical SIM and want to transfer your SmartLess Mobile plan to eSIM, or if you are moving from one eSIM-only phone to another, send us a message or give us a shout, and we’ll help you get it all sorted out.
