Installing your eSIM

An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital SIM built into your phone. No plastic, no waiting for shipping — just scan a QR code and go. 

Why use an eSIM? 

  • Get started instantly — no delivery required 

  • Keep multiple plans on one device (ideal for travel) 

  • Some newer phones only support eSIM (no SIM card slot) 

What you’ll need 

  • A device that supports eSIM 

  • WiFi connection 

  • Any old or inactive SIMs/eSIMs removed 

  • Your SmartLess Mobile login info (username/password) 

  • A second device (computer, tablet, or phone) if using the QR code method 


How to install your eSIM 

Once activation is complete, you’ll be prompted to install your eSIM. There are three options: 

Option 1: Install automatically (Newer iPhone models only)

  1. Connect your phone to WiFi 

  1. Remove any old or inactive SIMs/eSIMs 

  1. Log in to MyAccount or the SmartLess Mobile app on the device where you want to install the eSIM 

  1. Tap Start eSIM installation from your Dashboard 

  1. Select Install automatically and follow the iOS prompts 

  1. Confirm installation — SmartLess Mobile should appear under Cellular plans

Option 2: Install via QR code (Android and iPhone) 

Use a second device (computer or tablet) to display your QR code. That way you can scan the QR code directly from the device you’re activating your plan on. 

  1. Connect your phone to WiFi

  1. Remove any old or inactive SIMs/eSIMs

  1. On the second device (computer, tablet, or phone), log in to MyAccount 

  1. Enter your account email and password to log in 

  1. Complete the verification step 

  1. Tap Start eSIM installation from your dashboard 

  1. Choose the option to install using QR code 

Using iPhone 

  1. Go to Settings 

  1. Tap Cellular 

  1. Tap Add Cellular Plan 

  1. Use your phone’s built-in camera to scan the SmartLess Mobile QR code (do not use a third-party QR scanner) 

  1. Follow the prompts and tap Add Cellular Plan when asked 

  1. You’ll know it worked when SmartLess Mobile appears under your list of SIMs or Cellular Plans 

Using Android

The exact steps may vary by device and Android version. 

  1. Go to Settings 

  1. Select Connections (or Network & Internet) 

  1. Select SIM manager (or SIMs) 

  1. Tap Add SIM 

  1. Select eSIM 

  1. Use your phone’s built-in camera to scan the SmartLess Mobile QR code. Do not use a third-party QR scanner

  1. Follow the prompts and tap Add Cellular Plan when asked

  1. You’ll know it worked when SmartLess Mobile appears under your list of SIMs or Cellular Plans

Option 3: Manual install (Fallback method)

Before you start: 

  1. Connect your phone to WiFi

  1. Remove any old or inactive SIMs/eSIMs

  1. On the device you’re activating, log in to MyAccount in your browser or the SmartLess Mobile app

  1. Enter your account email and password to log in 

  1. Complete the verification step 

  1. Tap Start eSIM Installation on your Dashboard

  1. Choose Install with manual input

Using iPhone

  1. Go to Settings  

  1. Tap Cellular 

  1. Select Add eSIM 

  1. Select Use QR Code 

  1. Tap Scan QR Code 

  1. Select Enter Details Manually 

  1. Copy the SM-DP+ address and Activation Code from MyAccount 

  1. Enter the details into the corresponding fields on your iPhone 

  1. Follow the on-screen prompts to finish installation 

Note: Steps may vary slightly depending on your iOS version and device model 

Using Android

Note: Steps may vary by device and Android version 

  1. Go to Settings 

  1. Tap Connections (or Network & Internet) 

  1. Select SIM manager (or SIMs) 

  1. Tap Add SIM (Add eSIM) 

  1. Click on Need Help? 

  1. Select Enter manually 

  1. Copy the SM-DP+ address and Activation Code from MyAccount 

  1. Enter the details in the corresponding fields on your Android device 

  1. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete installation
