Transferring your number to SmartLess Mobile
Want to keep your number? Totally doable. Whether you're switching from another carrier or having second thoughts after picking a new number with us, here's how to bring your number over to SmartLess Mobile.
Transferring your number is also called ‘porting’ If you hear tech folks say they’re “porting” their number, that’s just another way to say they’re transferring it. However you want to say it, we’ve got you.
Planning to transfer (port) your number during setup?
When you activate your SmartLess Mobile plan, choose “Transfer My Number” and enter your details. That’s the only time you can bring your number over—so don’t skip it!
How to transfer (port) your number
Step 1: Purchase a SmartLess Mobile plan

Get a new SmartLess Mobile SIM or eSIM by activating a new plan.
Step 2: During setup, choose “Transfer My Number”

Enter your number transfer info from your current carrier:

Phone number – Must still be active

Account number – Usually found on your bill or online account

Number Transfer PIN – Sometimes called a “port-out PIN”
-
Billing ZIP code – The one linked to your current account

Step 3: Wait for confirmation

We’ll let you know once your number has successfully transferred.

Most mobile numbers transfer within a few minutes to a few hours.

Landline numbers can take up to 5 business days.
Step 4: Cancel your old service

Once you're up and running on SmartLess Mobile, make sure your account is cancelled with your previous carrier—unless they do it automatically.
Already activated with a new SmartLess Mobile number?
We get it—sometimes you start fresh and then think, “Actually, I want my old number back.”
If your SmartLess Mobile plan is already active with a new number, that number can’t be swapped or overwritten. But no worries—you can still bring your old number over by starting a new activation.
Here’s how:
Step 1: Start a new activation

Log in to your SmartLess Mobile account

Activate a new line (SIM or eSIM)

This time, select “Transfer My Number” during setup
Step 2: Complete the transfer

Enter the account info from your previous carrier and wait for the transfer to go through

Most mobile numbers transfer within a few hours

Landlines can take up to 5 business days
Step 3: Cancel your original SmartLess plan (optional)

Once your old number is active on the new plan, you can cancel the original one if you don’t need it anymore
Why can’t I just swap numbers on my existing plan?
Once a number is tied to an active plan, it can’t be replaced with a number from another carrier. This helps keep your number secure and our system running smoothly. So if you're bringing a number over, it needs to happen during setup—or by activating a new plan.
